  1. Celebrating Watercolorist Victor Ing

Please join us this Saturday and Sunday (Dec 7-8), in celebrating local artist, Victor Ing (1924-1997). Silwai Ing will be on hand to share stories of her father’s beautiful art and life. Admire and shop Victor Ing’s original watercolors and holiday cards at collectible pricing.

Artist Victor Ing (1924-1997) was a student of Rudolph Pen, a 1958 graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and was elected to the American Watercolor Society in 1968. A prolific painter, Ing’s work was exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, the American Watercolor Society of New York, Watercolor USA, the Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago, the Chicago Public Library, the Union League Club of Chicago, and many art fairs in Chicago, including the annual Old Town Art Fair.

Ing considered himself a semi-realist or an impressionist. His paintings reveal an exquisite blend of flawless brush strokes of the East and the imaginative pattern and design of the West. His colors, whether mute or luminous, are applied to rice paper with the deftness of a master and evoke harmony and serenity.

Ing was forced to adjust his creative approach beginning at age 37 as he struggled to cope with progressively debilitating Parkinson’s disease. Painting served as Victor Ing’s lifeline and he passed away at age 73, only a few months after he stopped painting.
